China and Ethiopia Deepen Cooperation Across Multiple Sectors
Addis Ababa – Officials from China and Ethiopia highlighted the deepening cooperation between their countries across various sectors at the recent Ethiopia-China Economic and Trade Forum held in Addis Ababa.
Ethiopia has become one of the first African nations to embrace the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), unlocking significant economic potential through its strategic partnership with China.
The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation platform continues to strengthen the commitment of both Africa and China to building a community with a shared future. Ethiopia’s inclusion in the BRICS mechanism has further boosted its economic development, creating new avenues for collaboration with China.
China aims to enhance policy alignment with Ethiopia and strengthen cooperation in key areas such as infrastructure development, industrial park development, and agricultural modernization.
During the forum, both sides emphasized the importance of fostering a conducive business environment to attract more Chinese investment to Ethiopia. This includes streamlining regulations, offering investment incentives, and ensuring the protection of investor rights.

Ethiopia offers significant opportunities for Chinese businesses, particularly in manufacturing, agro-processing, and the burgeoning digital economy. The country’s strategic location as a gateway to the African market, coupled with its youthful population and growing economy, makes it an attractive investment destination.
Looking ahead, China and Ethiopia are committed to elevating their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to new heights. This includes expanding cooperation in emerging sectors, promoting sustainable development, and strengthening people-to-people exchanges. The shared vision of progress and mutual benefit underscores the enduring strength of the relationship between these two nations.
